A massive fire engulfed Jamdaha Bekar Chowk under Manikpur Police Station's jurisdiction late last night, reducing eight commercial establishments to ashes.
Firefighters from Bijni, Abhayapuri, and Kajalgaon deployed five fire engines in a desperate attempt to control the blaze. However, the raging flames ultimately consumed the shops entirely.
Preliminary investigations suggest an electrical short circuit as the likely cause of the fire, with reports indicating it may have originated from a motorcycle garage.
The gutted establishments include a bike garage, a salon, two seed stores, a tent house, an e-rickshaw garage, and two bamboo furniture shops.
The blaze has caused an estimated loss of Rs 60 lakhs, leaving shop owners and the local community in shock. Further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause and assess the damages.
