In a major raid conducted at Shimultapu village No. 1 within the jurisdiction of Shimultapu Police Station, in Gossaigaon, Assam law enforcement authorities uncovered a cache of weapons, revealing a dark connection to local cow smuggling operations.
The operation, led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Hiren Kumar Deka and Shimultapu Police Station In-Charge Sanjay Rai, targeted the residence of Shahidul Islam Miyan, a known smuggler in the village. During the search, officers discovered a machete and a concealed pistol, along with a magazine and five live cartridges.
The contraband was ingeniously hidden under the bed of the suspect, raising concerns about the sophistication and brazenness of smuggling activities in the area. The accused, Shahidul Islam Miyan, managed to evade arrest and is currently at large.
Authorities have launched an intensive investigation into the incident, aiming to unravel the network behind the smuggling operations and to apprehend the fugitive. The discovery has intensified the police’s focus on cracking down on illicit activities within the region.
