Tension escalated in Basugaon village of Assam's Chirang district after a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker was attacked on March 11.
The incident took place after the RSS worker, identified as Ajay Bajphor, was attacked by a man when he along with a group of youths went to collect their due money.
Following this, a minor scuffle broke out between the RSS worker and attacker, identified as Ibrahim Ali alias Kanchu and later the accused attacked Bajphor with a sharp weapon.
''We had gone to Ibrahim Ali’s home to collect money which was due as he kept a tractor on lease. Ali’s wife informed us that he was not present at home. However, during the conversation with Ali’s wife, the accused suddenly appeared from nowhere and attacked us. He also said that he would not pay the money. I was brutally injured in my head during the scuffle,” said the RSS worker while speaking to the media about the matter.
As per reports, the accused is on run after committing the crime.
In this regard, an FIR has been lodged by Bajphor at Basugaon police station and the incident has created uproar in the village.
