Incessant rains caused massive landslides in the Telahi Ghansarai area of Assam’s Lakhimpur district over the intake tunnel of the Lower Subansiri hydropower project.
It has been found that the hill on the left bank has become hollow, causing the landslide to be uprooted. Parts of the Bhangur hill are tumbling one after the other.
Despite this, the dam construction company National Hydro Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NHPC) has not been able to take any action, instead continuing to work.
Earlier on September 26, the ongoing construction of the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (SLHP), on the Assam-Arunachal border, work at the dam has been halted after the powerhouse submerged
The guard walls of the Subansiri dam, constructed by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) at Gerukamukh on the Assam-Arunachal border, collapsed on September 26 following heavy rains in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh over the last few days, the powerhouse submerged under water.
