After four days of uncertainty, there are still no leads regarding the whereabouts of Prakash Bahadur Chetri, who was kidnapped on December 17. The worker, employed at the Krishwar Mill owned by Krishna Chetri, was taken from a location 10 miles away from his home in the Jagun area.
Despite an ongoing investigation by the authorities, no rebel group has claimed responsibility for the abduction. Today, the leadership of the Three-Cukiya District Committee of the All Assam Gorkha Students' Union (AAGSU) visited the home of the kidnapped victim in a show of solidarity with the family.
During their visit, the group held a press conference to call for the immediate release of Prakash Bahadur Chetri. Through the press meet, AAGSU made a direct appeal to Paresh Barua, the commander-in-chief of ULFA (Independent), urging him to ensure the safe release of the young worker.
The family, in a state of distress, has been waiting for any information from authorities or the kidnappers. With no official statement from any insurgent group, the local community remains on edge as the search continues.
Authorities have promised to intensify their efforts to resolve the situation, but as of now, no arrests have been made, and the victim’s fate remains unclear.
