A massive protest erupted in Dudhnoi as thousands of men and women gathered to demand justice for the brutal murder of Hiranmoy Khakhlari and the horrific rape and torture of two minor girls. Organized by the Goalpara District Bodo Students Union, the protest saw collaboration from various national organizations within Goalpara district.
The demonstrators called for the execution of the perpetrators involved in Khakhlari's murder and the rapists responsible for the assault on the minor girls. They also urged the government to provide financial compensation of Rs 20 lakh to Khakhlari's family and Rs 5 lakh to each of the minor girls who were victims of torture. Furthermore, there was a strong demand for the trial of these heinous crimes in fast-track courts to ensure swift justice.
The protest meeting, held at the Dudhnoi public ground, witnessed participation from several influential organizations, including the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), All Assam Students Union (AASU), Rabha Students Union (Arsu), All Koch Rajbongshi Students Union (Akrasu), Hajong Students Union, Tribal Union, Nikhil Rabha Mahila Parishad, Sixth Schedule Demand Committee, Garo Students Union, United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO), Bodo Mahila Kalyan Parishad, Former BLT, Boro Bardal, Bengali Youth Students Federation, Hindu Jagran Manch, and local MLA Yadav Swargiyari.
Protesters marched through Dudhnoi town, chanting slogans demanding justice and an end to violence. The march culminated in the submission of a memorandum to Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Director General of Police G.P. Singh, Chief Secretary, and the District Commissioner through the Dudhnai Revenue Circle Officer.
