A wild elephant that had been troubling the residents in the Telamara revenue circle for several days was tranquilized yesterday afternoon and given necessary medical treatment. The elephant, which had been roaming near Telamara's Nabil area, had been creating chaos for the past three days in several localities, including Borgao Chapori, Komarpathar, and Telamara Ghat.
The animal has been observed to have a tumor on the upper part of its hind leg and appears to be partially blind in one eye. The affected area has swollen considerably, with a build-up of pus causing significant pain. This condition led the elephant to wander aimlessly across different locations, showing signs of distress.
In addition, a separate herd of around 12 elephants had also been causing disturbances in the region. Forest officials were able to successfully guide this herd back to the Sonai Rupai Wildlife Sanctuary. However, their attempt to reintegrate the ailing elephant into the herd proved unsuccessful. Despite their efforts, the injured animal remained separated from the group.
