Babar, Aurangzeb and Akbar ruled our country, weakened it, says Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on October 18 made remarks about historical figures, drawing a connection between their rule and what he perceived as a period of weakness for India. Sarma said that rulers such as Babar, Aurangzeb, and Akbar ruled and weakened our country. 

He said that the the ongoing conflict in Israel has garnered international attention. "Hamas, a designated terrorist organization, has launched attacks, including firing on children and elderly individuals.", he added.

Sarma said that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, expressed support for Israel in the wake of the attacks by Hamas unequivocally condemned the violence directed at Israel whereas India's opposition leader, Rahul Gandhi, called a meeting and expressed solidarity with Palestine, which can be seen as an indirect endorsement of Hamas. 

Himanta Biswa Sarma's visit to Chhattisgarh is part of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) strategic efforts to extend its political reach in the state. As the BJP aims to make an impact on Chhattisgarh's politics, Sarma conducted a roadshow and a meeting in the Kawardha assembly constituency. 

Sarma's visit to Chhattisgarh is not his first, as he had previously participated in the BJP's Parivartan Yatra. During this Yatra, he questioned the governance of the Congress party in the state and criticized it on various issues, including religious conversions.
