After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) announced their alliance for the upcoming Panchayat elections in Assam, BJP MP and Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia confirmed their union, stating that they are aiming for 'Panchayat se Parliament tak'.
"Today, the leaders of AGP and BJP held a meeting under the leadership of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. We are ready to contest the Panchayat elections together for the service of the people... We are preparing for 'Panchayat se Parliament tak'," Saikia said.
He emphasised that the alliance will function at the grassroots level for the benefit of Assam and the welfare of its people.
He further stated that Lok Sabha-wise, one leader from BJP and one from AGP will be assigned responsibilities.
"We will discuss and create a roadmap while engaging with AGP and BJP workers in different constituencies. Our goal is also to prepare for the 2026 Vidhan Sabha elections, and BJP will stand firmly with AGP and NDA," he added.
The meeting witnessed the presence of key political figures, including State BJP President Dilip Saikia, AGP President Atul Bora, Minister Keshab Mahanta, and senior leader Phani Bhushan Choudhury.
