Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today lashed out at the opposition leader and TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee for mimicking the Rajya Sabha Chairman during a demonstration on Parliament grounds.
Taking to his X, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, "What a shameful situation! The karta dharta of the country's oldest political party, once at the helm for decades, have stooped to such low levels. It's a live example of how frustration can bring out the worst in someone. Disheartening to witness. Disgrace!"
The entire act of mimicry was surprisingly recorded by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

The chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Jagdeep Dhankhar, voiced his disgust at the mocking of him during a demonstration on Parliament grounds by suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee, calling it "ridiculous" and "unacceptable."
During the demonstration at Parliament's Makar Dwar, Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, was allegedly spotted filming the Trinamool Congress MP with his smartphone, while Kalyan Banerjee, along with other suspended MPs, was seen imitating the Vice President.
As the House reconvened at noon after being adjourned, Dhankhar took note of the incident and said, “The Office of Chairman, Rajya Sabha and Office of Speaker is very different. Political parties will have their cross currents, and they will have exchanges, but imagine a senior leader of your party, video graphing another member of another party. Mimicry of the Chairman, mimicry of Speaker. How ridiculous, how shameful, how unacceptable.”
