Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has underscored the non-political nature of the drug eradication effort, emphasizing the need for a united approach from all political parties and stringent law enforcement.
In a statement, Sarma said, "The issue of drug eradication is non-political. Law enforcement must adopt a strict approach, and it is imperative that all parties, including the opposition, support the police in this fight."
The Chief Minister's remarks follow a significant police operation in the Dhubri district. On July 25, authorities conducted surveillance and raids under the Golakganj Police Station's jurisdiction, which led to the discovery of an illicit drug operation. During the operation, police apprehended Ajjal Hussain, a resident of Chagolia Part I village. Hussain is accused of involvement in the illegal sale and distribution of narcotics, in violation of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
