Nagaland is set to host the 25th edition of the renowned Hornbill Festival at Kisama Heritage Village, marking a significant milestone for the state’s most celebrated cultural event. Speaking ahead of the festivities, Chief Secretary Dr. J Alam highlighted the festival’s evolution into an internationally recognized brand since its inception in 2000.
“This year’s festival is particularly special as it marks the silver jubilee. Over the years, the Hornbill Festival has gained immense popularity, drawing interest from across the country and abroad. Preparations are in full swing to welcome guests at both national and international levels,” Dr. Alam stated.
He noted that significant upgrades are underway at the Kisama Heritage Complex, including a newly constructed bamboo pavilion. The main arena has been expanded to accommodate three times the usual number of tourists, ensuring a grander experience for attendees.
The Hornbill Festival, often referred to as the "Festival of Festivals," celebrates Nagaland’s rich cultural heritage, featuring traditional music, dance, cuisine, and crafts from the state’s diverse tribes. The milestone 25th edition promises to be an even more vibrant and inclusive affair.
Authorities are optimistic that the enhanced infrastructure and preparations will elevate the festival’s reputation, further solidifying its global appeal.
