Union Minister Pabitra Margherita issued a sharp critique of Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, accusing him of political double standards after the state witnessed a clean victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Assam assembly bypolls on November 23.
During a press conference held at the Dihing Guest House in Assam's Margherita, the Union Minister warned against communal politics for electoral gains, emphasising that the BJP’s development-focused approach has garnered widespread support.
Margherita praised the BJP’s sweeping victory in the state assembly bypolls. Calling the victory a "resounding" mandate in five constituencies, Margherita described the win as a testament to public trust in Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership and the BJP-led government.
The Minister also spoke about the BJP's recent performance in Maharashtra and Jharkhand elections, reflecting on the party’s nationwide momentum. With BJP allies dominating Assam’s bypolls and securing significant margins, Margherita underscored the strategic importance of the results in consolidating the party's hold on the region.
