Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on September 28 while attending an event organised by the Transport Department of the Government of Assam announced that people have to pay toll tax for new bridges that will be constructed over Brahmaputra river.
People will have to pay toll tax in order to cross the newly constructed bridges over the Brahmaputra connecting Sadiya to Dhubri to be constructed over the Brahmaputra river.
The Chief Minister announced that the newly constructed bridges over the Brahmaputra which will be connected by the national highways will attract toll taxes. The state government has taken this decision with the objective of collecting taxes. “You have to pay toll tax to the government to cross through the new bridge of the newly constructed Brahmaputra, otherwise passengers will have to go by boat”, said CM Sarma.
It is noteworthy that these newly constructed bridges were expected to overcome the problem of transportation to a great extent and benefit the people travelling by ferry especially every day.
