AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb Friday declared that his government has reserved 4% of jobs for the divyang (differently abled) community as a part of a special scheme.

Deb, making an address at an event at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, said that four percent of government jobs shall be reserved for the physically challenged people in the state.

Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Thaawar Chand Gehlot, has said that Rs 20 crore would be allocated for setting up a Regional Centre for the empowerment of the physically challenged people in the state.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the initiative to empower the Divyangs. Similarly, the central government is committed to ensuring the safety and security of senior citizens," Gehlot has been quoted as saying.
