NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Four women were shot dead by terrorists in the North Waziristan district in Pakistan today.

 

The incident took place at around 9.30 AM near Ippi village in Mir Ali town -- a major town in the district that borders Afghanistan.

 

According to police, the women were shot by two motorcycle-borne assailants while the women were coming from Bannu city and its adjoining areas in a vehicle to a village to teach sewing and embroidery to village women.

 

Four of them had passed away on the spot when the unidentified gunmen opened fire on their vehicle, while the driver got injured. He is currently undergoing treatment.

Investigations are currently underway and a search and strike operation has been launched. A search and strike operation is being continued in the Mir Ali area to track down the terrorists.

 

Police said the driver of the car was injured and is undergoing treatment. No group or individual has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

 

Meanwhile, the human rights commission of Pakistan has condemned the killing of four women and urged the state government to book the culprits of this heinous crime.

 

“HRCP condemns the killing of four women social workers in #NorthWaziristan. The state must bring to book the perpetrators of this heinous crime. The re-emergence of terror groups in the area is a matter of grave concern. ½”,” the human rights commission wrote in a tweet.
