SRINAGAR: Security forces killed five militants in two separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir today.
Two suspected jehadis were killed in Awantipora's Tral area, while three other were killed in Shopian district.
Two suspected jehadis were killed by security forces in Awantipora's Tral area in an encounter started at 8 am at Nowbugh. Security personnel have cordoned off the area.

The three others were killed in the Shopian district, where security forces have been involved in a fierce gun fight with terrorists for more than 12 hours.

Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (JeM) chief of a proscribed terrorist outfit is among the terrorists in the Shopian area. Although the identity of the deceased bombers have not been determined yet, it is not known whether he is still inside a mosque.
On Thursday, security forces clashed with terrorists in Shopian, where terrorists were holed up inside a mosque.
According to reports, the Jammu and Kashmir Police last night sent the brother of one of the terrorists and a nearby imam (priest) inside the mosque to convince the terrorists to surrender.
