7 special trains introduced by NF Railways for Diwali mela in Tripura

Guwahat, November 7, 2018:

Seven special trains have been introduced by Northeast Frontier Railway on Tuesday for devotees to attend the Diwali fair at Mata Tripurasundari temple in Tripura’s Gomati district.

Six trains from Agartala and one train from Dharmanagar, bordering Assam in North Tripura district. All regular trains from Silchar in Assam and Dharmanagar will be operational.

The Mata Tripurasundari temple is considered to be one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, legends says that the right leg of Mata Sati fell. Here, Shakti is worshipped as Tripurasundarī and the accompanying Bhairava is Tripuresh.

Every year on the occasion of Diwali, a famous Mela takes place near the temple which is visited by more than 0.2 million pilgrims.
