NAYPYIDAW: More than 80 people were killed in Myanmar military's central town of Bago on Friday as military and police forces continue to use heavy weapons against protestors, a delayed report said today.
Since the military deposed civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi in February, Myanmar has been in chaos, with demonstrators refusing to submit to the junta and demanding a return to democracy.

The UN office in Myanmar in a statement released on Saturday night, condemned military repression in Bago and requested that security forces end the violence immediately and allow the wounded to receive treatment.
According to the sources, Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) monitoring group, 82 people were killed on Friday during a rally against the country's military coup on February 1.
Earlier on Friday morning, military and police forces attacked protesters with arms, grenades and other heavy weapons, resulting in several casualties.

According to the human rights organisation, 701 people have died since the military coup.
Myanmar's military seized power on February 1, declaring a one-year state of emergency and promising to investigate allegations of voter fraud in the November 8 general election.
As a result, security forces have dispersed rallies with rubber bullets and live rounds and arrested thousands of activists.
