A teacher’s wrong teaching can kill an entire generation: Jamoh

While addressing the Golden Jubilee celebration of Government Upper Primary School,  Mikong on Saturday as Chief Guest, Er. Tatung Jamoh, MLA 37th Pasighat West, Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture & Fisheries reminded the role of a teacher in society/nation building and said that, a doctor’s wrong treatment can only kill a patient, but at a teachers’ wrong teaching can kill an entire generation. On the occasion, the first batch of students (alumni) and pioneer teachers were honored and felicitated. The Upper Primary School, Mikong was established on 15th January 1967 as Primary School which was upgraded to Upper Primary School in the year 2006.

Jamoh laid emphasized on the need for bringing about a changed mindset of the people and a complete overhauling of the system.  He congratulated the people on the auspicious occasion and stressed on the essence of parent-teacher and student relationship and coordination to plug the loopholes in the teaching learning process.

Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak who also graced the program as Guest of Honour appealed to the villagers to support the administration in revamping the educational system. He directed the DDSE to arrange to obtain requisition of the Land Record officials to make proper mapping and demarcation of school area.  He also emphasized on vocational education and skill development measures in the curriculum. He called upon the educational administration to monitor academic progress and rate the performance of teachers.

While Ninong Ering, Lok Sabha MP who attended the function as special guest also addressed the students to cope up with the ever changing academic needs of the time. He went on to say that we can take our children to the school but we can't make them read unless we motivate them to do so.

Former Health Minister Dr.  Tangor Tapak who owns a gas agency also addressed the gathering and volunteered to distribute free LPG connection to those household without any connection till date including schools.

Resource persons like Dr.  David Gao, Asstt Professor, RGU, Tapang Taloh, Retired Director School Education spoke at length on ways and means to make education reverberate and revitalize  in the area after a long gap.
