Arunachal Pradesh: NSCN cadres apprehended by Assam Rifles

In a major development based on input from Military intelligence, 9 Assam Rifles apprehended two hardcore NSCN (R) insurgents from Khanko Village Changlang District Arunachal Pradesh.

The two apprehended NSCN (R) has been identified as SS Pvt Thungsam Ngemu (20), son of Ngonchik Ngemu residents of Laktong village Changlang District Arunachal Pradesh and SS pvt Wangphik Khohoi (24) son of Mojang Khohoi resident of Watlom Changlang district Arunachal Pradesh.

The apprehended two hardcore NSCN (R) was involved in unlawful activities for many years and became a headache for Security forces which the apprehended have given a major blow to active insurgency groups of Arunachal Pradesh.

One 9 AR, .22 Pistol with 1 Magazine, 7.65 mm Pistol with 2 Magazine, 7 round live ammunitions, 3 Mobile Phones and 2 Aadhar cards were recovered from the cadre. Later 9 AR handed over the apprehended two hardcore NSCN (R) insurgents to Changlang Police Station.

The Tinsukia police in Assam and troops of the Indian Army nabbed a cadre of the Isac Muivah faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) in Ledo in the district.

The cadre has been identified as Sargent Major Nongpong Handique. Police recovered a pistol, four rounds of live ammunition and two mobile phone sets.

Later, the cadre was handed over to the Ledo police for further legal action.

On June 9th, 2020, troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of the Indian Army in a joint operation with Arunachal Pradesh Police apprehended a cadre of NSCN (IM) near Nginu village in Tirap district in Arunachal Pradesh.

Based on a specific input the joint team launched an operation and apprehended the cadre from the area. The apprehended cadre has been identified as SS Lance Cpl Mandem Pansa r/o Nginu village in Tirap District of Arunachal Pradesh. It is suspected that the individual was actively involved in extortion and recruitment activities in the district. The team also recovered one point 22 Pistol with magazine, three live rounds of ammunition and one mobile phone from the insurgent.

The apprehension of the said insurgent has brought a sigh of relief to the locals who have been facing the brunt of insurgency for long. The apprehended individual along with recovered stores have been handed over to Wakka Police Station for further investigations.
