ASSAM: FARMER’S WELFARE WORKSHOPS ORGANISED IN HAILAKANDI

Farmer's welfare workshops organised across blocks in Hailakandi district today.

Kishan Kalyan Karyashala was held at different blocks in Hailakandi district as part of ongoing Gram Swaraj Abhiyan.

The District Agricultural Department organised the farmers' workshops at Hailakandi, Algapur, Lala, Katlicherra and South Hailakandi blocks.

The farmers' welfare workshops were attended by agricultural officers, experts, progressive farmers and district heads of allied departments.

A central function was held at the District Agricultural office premises at Laxmisahar in Hailakandi block. Speakers discussed ways for doubling the farmers' income by 2022, as a key promise made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The workshops highlighted the importance of key strategic interventions and to take technology to farmers to encourage a two-way traffic between experts and farmers to evolve solution to local problems.

The rural centric campaign had begun on the birth anniversary of Dalit icon BR Ambedkar on April 15 and will conclude on May 5.
