A flood relief demonstration was carried out at Disangmukh, Sivasagar by Army camp Joysagar under the aegis of Dao division, today. The exercise was conducted on the banks of the river Disang, Sivasagar, which is chronically flood affected area due to seasonal monsoon leading to loss of life and property every year. The joint endeavour by Army, civil defence, and district administration enhanced the preparedness and synergy to deal with floods by demonstrating static display of equipment and depiction of rescue mission.
The mock drill included portrayal of a situation comprising of early warning of heavy rains, deploy of flood control teams and finally high speed action to rescue the victims from stranded places using various techniques. Besides this various improvised aids were also displayed along with their uses to prepare locals for any eventuality. The exercise also included the training for resuscitation of drowned cases and awareness about preventive measures and precautions to be taken before and after floods to avoid illness and health problems. The mock drill was well appreciated by the locals and the district administrator and were thankful to Army for conducting the event. This endeavour reaffirmed the faith of local in Army’s dedication and support in case of any disaster.
