Guwahati, January 31, 2019:

In yet another major haul by Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of the Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), a smuggler with 64,000 numbers of WIY (World is Yours) tablets, worth approximately Rs 1.92 crore, has been apprehended from Permanent Check Post (PVCP) at Khudengthabi.

According to a statement from Assam Rifles, on Wednesday while carrying out checking of vehicles as per routine procedure, packets containing tablets suspected to be WIY was found in a vehicle bearing registration number MN 04 A 2733 that was traveling from Moreh to Churachandpur, the statement said.

The driver of the vehicle identified himself as Lunkhomang Haokip, aged 31. The apprehended individual has been handed over to Narcotic Central Bureau, Imphal.

It may also be noted that in the month of January alone, Tengnoupal battalion has seized contraband items worth approximately Rs 14 crores in six different incidents of illegal smuggling wherein a total of six drug peddlers were caught.
