Assam Rifles recovers 136 kgs of gunpowder in Mizoram, 1 held

AIZAWL: The Assam Rifles has staved off a major catastrophe from happening as they have recovered a huge 136 kilograms of gun powder in Mizoram.

The operation was launched by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police following a special input.

Assam Rifles mentioned in a released statement that the gun powder was recovered from the Longpuighat area of Vaseikai Village in Mizoram.

“In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered 136 kg Gun Powder, in general area Longpuighat of Vaseikai Village in Mizoram on 25 May 2021,” a part of the released statement read.

It is reported that one person has been apprehended in connection with the case and handed over to Vaseikai Police Station with the recovered goods for further proceedings.
