Kohima, March 31, 2019:

In a rather curious incident, the Assam Rifles have nabbed a drug dealer who was carrying the contraband items in soap boxes! Based on specific information regarding the movement of contraband items from Manipur to Kohima, the Kohima Battalion of Assam Rifles had laid an MVCP in Phesama check gate, Kohima on Friday.

During spot check, a certain Lenpingan Khongsai hailing from Dimapur was found in possession of heroin packed in 20 soap cases each weighing 15 gms which were kept in his Bolero vehicle with registration no. NL-07A 8291. The market value of a kilo of heroin is Rs 1 crore, thus the shipment recovered is worth an estimated Rs 30 lakhs!

The consignment was to be handed over to a certain Mrs. Kholi, a resident of New Minister Hill, Kohima.

The apprehendee was handed over to South Police Station on for further investigation.
