Guwahati, October 27, 2018:

Dr Shah Mohammad Tanvir Monsur, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh,  called on Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Guwahati and discussed on ways to strengthen bilateral relations with increased people to people contact between Assam and Bangladesh.

Both the leaders vowed to strengthen the already buoyed bilateral relations with increased people-to-people contact, including exchange programmes between students and academia in a meeting that lasted for around 30 minutes.

It was also proposed during the meeting that the two geographical entities can enter into Memorandum of Understanding between universities to facilitate educational exchange programmes.

Dr Monsur said that both Assam and Bangladesh must go to help each other for the mutual benefits of both the geographical entities as the culture of Assam has had deep impact in enriching the cultures of Bangladesh.

The Assistant High Commissioner also invited Chief Minister Sonowal to Bangladesh’s Victory Day to commemorate the country’s liberation to be celebrated on December 16.

The meeting also discussed on the need to have a direct flight between Guwahati and Bangladesh and various other topics like mutual cooperation, agriculture, tourism, education, connectivity and bio-diversity.
