BCCI to donate 10-Litre 2000 Oxygen concentrators to combat COVID-19 pandemic

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for  Cricket in India (BCCI) declared on Monday that it would donate 2000 oxygen concentrators of 10 liter capacity to help India combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

"BCCI to contribute 10-Litre 2000 Oxygen concentrators to boost India’s efforts in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic," BCCI tweeted.

The country has been struck by an unprecedented second wave of the coronavirus, resulting in a significant increase in demand for medical equipment and life-saving oxygen.

The Board will distribute the concentrators throughout India over the next few months in the hopes that essential medical assistance and treatment will be given to vulnerable patients, and that this initiative will help to minimise the havoc wreaked by the pandemic, it said.

Sourav Ganguly, President, BCCI said, "The BCCI emphasizes the important role that the medical and healthcare communities have played and continue to play in the war against the virus."

He further stated that the board has always prioritised health and safety, and it remains committed to the cause. Those that are affected will receive immediate relief from the oxygen concentrators, which will aid in their quick recovery.

Arun Singh Dhumal, Honorary Treasurer, BCCI stated that the cricketing community has always stepped forward to help in times of need. It's encouraging to see everyone banding together and doing their fair share.

"We believe these oxygen concentrators will boost healthcare infrastructure and be vital in providing critical oxygen when levels deplete rapidly," he added.

Meanwhile, Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary, BCCI said, "We have all gone through a lot but I am confident that we can stay ahead of the curve now that the vaccination drive is underway."
