LOS ANGELES: The 63rd Grammy Awards on Sunday night were a landmark night for women. Female artists such as Beyonce and Taylor Swift had a record-breaking night at the 2021 Grammy Awards on Sunday, which featured a jam-packed but socially distanced displays highlighted by live music, which was sorely lacking during the pandemic period.

Four women took home the top four awards, including Taylor Swift, who made history by being the first female artist to win album of the year three times. Beyoncé became the most decorated woman in Grammy history with her 28th win.

H.E.R. won song of the year, and Billie Eilish won album of the year for the second year in a row, despite the fact that she told the audience that best new artist winner Megan Thee Stallion deserved to win.

Megan Thee Stallion took home the award for best new artist, the first female rapper to do so since Lauryn Hill in 1999, as well as best rap album and best rap performance for "Savage," which she shared with Beyoncé.

Mickey Guyton, the first Black woman nominated for best country solo album, delivered a powerful performance of her song "Black Like Me," which she released last year as police brutality and the coronavirus ravaged Black America disproportionately. Killer Mike and activist Tamika Mallory joined Lil Baby for a political performance.

But it wasn't just Beyoncé who made history, her entire family did as well. All of the members of the royal family of music received awards. Jay-Z won his 23rd Grammy on Sunday, sharing the best rap song award with his wife as they co-wrote "Savage." Blue Ivy Carter, 9- year-old, became the second-youngest artist to win a Grammy in the show's 63-year history, winning best music video alongside her mother.

“I feel like there’s been a lot of female empowerment and lots of women winning awards tonight. And so it’s been absolutely amazing to just be alongside all that, to feel that energy,” Dua Lipa, who won best pop vocal album, said backstage.

Beyoncé now ties producer and multi-instrumentalist Quincy Jones for second place among all Grammy winners. She is only behind the late conductor Georg Solti, who is the most decorated Grammy winner with 31 wins.
