Shillong, March 24, 2019:

The BJP party on Sunday has announced Rikman G Momin as the party candidate to contest for the Tura Lok Sabha Constituency seat in Meghalaya.

It was earlier being reported that the saffron party would throw its support behind the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) ally NPP’s candidate Agatha Sangma as BJP’s Meghalaya President Shibun Lyngdoh had told IANS: "We have decided to support the NPP candidate in Tura parliamentary constituency since the party leadership has decided not to field a candidate."

Former Meghalaya CM Mukul Sangma from Congress and NPP’s Agatha Sangma are the other candidates who will be contesting the elections for the seat in Tura, one of two Lok Sabha Constituencies in Meghalaya. Meanwhile, Sanbor Shullai is the BJP nominee for the Shillong Lok Sabha Constituency.
