Uttarakhand’s Minister for Tourism, Irrigation, Indo-Nepal Uttarakhand River Projects, Satpalji Maharaj, called on Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and discussed issues pertaining to the improvement of organic agriculture and village tourism at Mintokgang.
Maharaj stressed that ‘Green Bonus’ from the centre should be given to both Sikkim and Uttarakhand so that the initiatives in the environmental sector could be further encouraged by the rest of the states in the country.
Chamling said the organic movement was ongoing and the young people have to strive and show active participation in branding, packaging and manufacturing and utilise the brand that Sikkim has created as being organic.
He also threw light on the Chief Minister’s start-up scheme and the state government providing 35 per cent subsidy for business ventures including organic farming and tourism-related activities for educated youths.
