MUMBAI: A Mumbai court today granted bail to businessman Raj Kundra in the pornography case on a surety of ₹50,000.
A single bench of Justice SK Shinde had also directed police to respond to the pre-arrest bail plea filed by Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty’s husband.
Another accused Ryan Thorpe was also granted bail by the court in the alleged porn racket.
Kundra, who is also husband of bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and is the prime accused in a porn racket, had filed a bail application seeking release as the investigations in the matter are now over.
In his bail application, Kundra had claimed that he was being made a 'scapegoat' and that there was not single evidence in the supplementary charge sheet of him being actively involved in the creation of the alleged questionable content.
The Mumbai Police had filed a charge sheet four days ago.
This case was filed by the Mumbai cyber police in 2020 in which directors and owners of various over-the-top (OTT) platforms and websites were booked for broadcasting obscene content.
The FIR was registered by a retired customs officer who had named several OTT platforms in his complaint.
Raj Kundra was then arrested for unlawfully publishing and distributing pornography videos through several apps.
