The long-awaited Cherry Blossom festival has officially kicked off in Meghalaya. The festival was inaugurated by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.
The Meghalaya Chief Minister took to Instagram to share pictures about . Informing people about the festival, Sangma wrote, "Attended the inaugural ceremony of the Cherry Blossom Festival. Festivals like the Cherry Blossom Festival aim to enrich and improve the experience of our tourists when they visit Meghalaya."
The Meghalaya Chief Minister also informed via Instagram that the Meghalaya state Government has taken up a number of projects to promote sustainable tourism.
In a tweet, the Chief Minister said, "The Festival offers the best of food, culture and music. Our Cherry Blossom trees are blossoming beautifully around the city. I invite everyone to witness the Festival and experience the best Meghalaya has to offer."
A variety of hand-crafted items are also being sold at stalls, which provide a glimpse into the culture of Meghalaya.
It may be mentioned here that Meghalaya capital Shillong is hosting the fourth edition of its India International Cherry Blossom festival from 13 November to 16 November, 2019.
Music gigs, a beauty pageant and stalls showcasing the cuisine, wine, arts and crafts of the region will be on display at the colorful annual festival.
The 4th edition of the festival will be held from 13 to 16 November 2019 across 5 venues in the area namely: Polo 5th Ground, State Convention Centre, Golf Course, JN Stadium, and Indoor Stadium Polo.
