NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old woman in Delhi was stabbed to death with a knife on resisting a snatching attempt on Saturday.

 

The deceased woman has been identified as Simran Kaur.

 

The incident took place on Saturday night around 9.30 pm in north-west Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar while the woman was coming home from a market along with her 2-year-old child.

 

All of a sudden a snatcher tried to snatch a chain she was wearing, but when Simran resisted and caught hold of the snatcher, the accused fell and stabbed her with a knife.

The snatcher, who was on foot, fled immediately in a scooty driven by his accomplice from a safe distance.

 

Simran was rushed to the hospital, but her injuries were too serious for her to survive.

 

The entire incident was caught in the CCTV camera installed on the road.

 

The police have been analysing the CCTV footage and have formed several teams to identify and apprehend the accused.

 

Moreover, a case has also been registered against the accused, said a police official.

 

According to the Delhi Police, the number of robbery cases has risen by 0.35 percent. In 2020, there were 1,963 cases reported, compared to 1,956 in 2019.
