Details of restrictions in Nagaland during the 8 day lockdown from May 14 to May 21

DIMAPUR: The Nagaland government declared complete lockdown in the state from 6 pm of May 14 to May 21, to split the chain and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In the last week, the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the state has increased dramatically.

All activities and movement of person(s)/individuals will be suspended during the lockdown time, according to an order issued today by Chief Secretary J Alam.

Vehicles transporting vital commodities/food items, as well as medical supplies such as oxygen/oxygen cylinders and other medical equipment would be excluded from the lockdown.

Except for medical emergencies, all private and government vehicles will be halted, according to the government.

All healthcare services, pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and healthcare worker movement, including for animal healthcare, COVID-19 vaccination, COVID research and medical emergencies will be allowed according to the order.

All officers and staff working in the Governor's secretariat, chief minister's office, chief secretary's office, Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench and district courts, district administration, police, security forces, fire and emergency services, home department, medical, postal services, NIC, NSDMA, Home Guards and Civil Defence, SDRF, power, PHED, food and civil supplies, finance, taxes, treasury and accounts, banks/ ATMs, IT and C, IPR, AIR and Doordarshan, social welfare department, including functioning of Sakhi One Stop Centre, women help line, child protection services, anganwadi services, LPG services, including their delivery, distribution and transportation, private water tanker/ carriers, prison and related services, courier services, municipal services like cleaning and sanitation, Food Corporation of India, directorate of state lotteries, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited and Administrative Training Institute have also been exempted.

Agriculture and related activities, as well as ongoing construction projects, will be permitted under COVID-19 conditions, according to the government, although petrol pumps will remain open as long as there is no overcrowding.

According to the updated SOP for returnees and travellers entering the state, inter-state transit passengers would be able to fly.

In consultation with respective colony/ward authorities, the government directed the respective district task force to develop a system to encourage the opening of vegetable, fish/meat vendors, and other vendors from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.

It advised the public to shop their essential needs from within their colony only.
