Eastern Army Commander Visits Northeast

Kohima, June 6, 2019:

The Indian Army’s General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Command (GOC-in-C) Lt Gen MM Naravane visited Assam Rifles and and Indian Army formations in Nagaland and South Arunachal Pradesh as part of his two day visit to the Spear Corps and Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) on 4-5 June. 2019.

During the visit, he reviewed the security situation and ongoing Counter Insurgency operations in the State and was briefed by Commanders on the prevailing security situation.

During the visit, the Army Commander also visited forward Company Operating Bases and interacted with the soldiers on ground involved in operations to trace out the perpetrators of 'Khonsa' and 'Tobu' incidents.

It may be mentioned that over the years, the State has witnessed improvement in the situation on ground largely due to the concerted efforts of Army and  Assam Rifles.

During his interaction with troops, the Eastern Army Commander appreciated their hard work and dedication.

Earlier in April, he had completed a three-day visit to the border areas of Arunachal.
