AIZWAL: Former Mizoram finance minister of Mizoram and three-time Congress legislator Lalsawta has been appointed as the new vice president of the party.

 

This was announced yesterday by the Congress president and former chief minister Lal Thanhawla during the political session at Congress Bhavan in Aizawl.

According to Lal Thanhawla, the party's political affairs committee unanimously chose Lalsawta to replace H. Liansailova, who resigned from the post in November last year citing personal engagement with church ministry.

 

In 1993, 2008, and 2013, Lalsawta successfully contested the state assembly elections three times.

 

He was the state finance minister during 2013-2018.
