Fake Facebook profile in name of Nagaland MLA seeks online financial help

DIMAPUR: A fake Facebook account has been opened by a person in the name of  Nagaland MLA  of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Advisor of Nagaland Power Department, Tovihoto Aye.

The accused used the fake Facebook profile to fraudulently demanding online financial help from various people.

Multiple requests for online financial help from various people were made through this fake Facebook account after fraudulently posting certain bank account numbers, said Dimapur police on Saturday.

Later, under the supervision of Dimapur Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone II, the Dimapur Police conducted technical analysis on the fake Facebook page and arrested the accused person behind the fake Facebook profile.

The accused has been identified as Sunil Kumar (26).

Subsequently, a three-member Dimapur police team with the assistance of Punjab police arrested Sunil Kumar from Sito Gunno village in Fazilka district of Punjab on August 6.

Kumar has been booked under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC)and IT Act under Sub-Urban police station, Dimapur.
