NEW DELHI: A farmer protesting against the Centre's new controversial farm laws was today killed at protests in ITO, New Delhi as streets resembled a war zone due to clashes.
According to reports, the farmer's tractor turned turtle after being shot at.
Groups of protesting farmers reached Red Fort after breaching police barricades, attacking personnel and even vandalising a bus at ITO.
Earlier, the police had given the farmer protesters permission for camping at Delhi's three borders -- Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur -- permission to hold rallies on specific routes, only after the official Republic Day parade at Rajpath.

As per the agreement, farmers were to remain in the adjoining areas of the borders and not venture towards Central Delhi.
At Singhu, amid the chaos, the police resorted to lathicharge and tear gas to control the protesters.
Meanwhile, the farmers have threatened to storm the Indian Parliament on February 1, when the Union budget will be presented.
Farmers have been in a sit-in protest at various border points in Delhi to protest against the controversial farm laws passed by the government since November. Several rounds of talks between the government and farmers’ unions have been held, but have failed to end the standoff.
Today marks the completion of two weeks of the protest.
