IMPHAL: As many as eight cows were reportedly mauled to death by a tiger in a rural village in Manipur's Tamenglong district.

Residents in Manipur's hill district were alarmed after a tiger attacked a herd of cows in a bush near Kuilong in the Tamei sub-division of Tamenglong district

The footprints of the tiger have been suspected to be that of a Bengal tiger.

The tiger's footprints have been measured to be as large as 7 inches.

State chief minister N Biren Singh took to Twitter and wrote, "Could it be the long Awaited Good News for Manipur !! Footprints suspected to be that of BENGAL TIGER discovered at KUILONG VILLAGE Tamei..footprints as large as 7 inches.. Though it had slayed a total of 8 COWS thus far and villagers staying home for fear of the Suspected Tiger."
