KOLKATA: Ahead of the West Bengal assembly polls, former India pacer Ashoke Dinda has joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in presence of union minister Babul Supriyo and state BJP vice-president Arjun Singh at a public meeting held in Kolkata Wednesday.
Dinda who announced his retirement from all forms of cricket earlier this month was welcomed to the party by party leaders and union minister Babul Supriyo.

In 2005, Dinda had made his first class debut for Bengal and continued to play cricket for them until 2020. He featured in 116 first class matches for Bengal, taking 420 wickets at an average of 28.28. He played 98 matches in List A cricket and bagged 151 wickets.
He represented India in 13 ODIs and 9 T20Is taking 12 and 17 scalps respectively.
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), he represented Rising Pune Supergiant, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, Pune Warriors picking up 68 wickets in 78 matches.
