Radha Krishna Mathur, the former Chief Secretary of Tripura has been appointed as the first Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. The Central government has announced the first Lieutenant Governor for Ladhak and Jammu Kashmir yesterday. While RK Mathur has been appointed as the LG for Ladhak, Girish Chandra Murmu has been appointed the Lieutenant Governor for Jammu and Kashmir.

Presently, R K Mathur has been working as the advisor of Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and is the Vice Chairman of the state planning board. He will take charge as the first LG of Ladhak on 31st October, next.

The President Ram Nath Kovind on August 10, 2019 gave assent to legislation for bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir, and two Union territories Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh will come into existence on October 31, 2019. It is worth to mention here that, Mathur is the first Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.
Mathur is a retired IAS officer and spent a long time in the state of Tripura. He was appointed as the chief secretary of the state in 2003. He was also the defense secretary of India and served in several capacities.
