VADODARA: Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani collapsed on the stage while addressing an election rally for the civic polls at Mehsananagar crossroads in Nizampura locality here on Sunday.

Rupani was administered first aid on the stage. He, however, managed to descend the stairs of the stage on his own.

Rupani’s health was later on stated to be stable and he fainted due to low blood pressure and sugar. He was taken to the UN Mehta Hospital in Ahmedabad by a government plane. He would be kept under observation for 24 hours at the hospital, the hospital authorities said.
