GANGTOK: A black bear of the Himalayan foothills travelled miles downwards and entered Raj Bhawan Colony in Gangtok, Sikkim this morning.
The black bear entered the 'Jungle' inside the colony.
It was initially noticed by a colony resident. He immediately informed the Forest Department.
On receiving information at around 8 a.m. a team of Gangtok forest division and Forest Guards rushed to the spot to rescue the bear.

The team led by Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Gangtok, and RO Gangtok division successfully tranquillised the black bear.
The forest officials took at least 2.30 hours to tranquilise the animal and send it to the zoo before moving it out finally to the forests.
