‘Hooch’ peddler apprehended in Manipur

Fresh on the heels of India’s worst hooch tragedy where more than 150 people in Assam’s Golaghat and Jorhat districts died after consuming spurious liquor, a team headed by the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Thoubal, Manipur, including women police officers, apprehended a hooch peddler in Thoubal district.

The person apprehended was identified as Roji Devi (25) alias Thokchom and Changamayum.

An entire set of apparatus used to manufacture the illicit liquor was recovered from her house.
