DIMAPUR: Nagaland police in a joint operation with security troops destroyed an “illegal camp” of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM) at Menkirong in Wokha district of Nagaland today.

According to the press statement, security personnel and police started an in the region operation based on specific information and demolished the camp.

During the operation police seized four AK rifles, one M-16 rifle, one 9mm pistol with three rounds, 446 live 7.62mm bullets, 12 pouches, and six pairs of military clothes were recovered, as well as four AK rifles, one M-16 rifle, one 9mm pistol with three rounds, 12 pouches, and six pairs of military uniforms.

The apprehended cadres, along with the recovered items, were handed later over to Bhandari police station in the district, the release added.

In another incident on the day, security forces and police apprehended an individual at Padum Pukhuri here and recovered a .22 pistol from him.

He was handed over to East police station, Dimapur.
