IMPHAl: At least 15 people were fined today and sentenced to three days in jail for not wearing masks in Imphal, Manipur

They were fined Rs 1,000 each.

Despite the fact that the number of COVID cases is rising every day, the majority of citizens in the state are still unconcerned about the pandemic and do not strictly observe the government's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), it has been observed.

The SOP violators were released after being alerted, according to a press release from Manipur Police's IGP (Ops) and Nodal Officer (COVID-19).

On April 24, fine amounting to Rs 95,150 was collected from the violators in accordance with the statute, bringing the total fine collected to Rs 1,82,63,370.

As the number of COVID-19 cases rises daily, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh appealed to the citizens of the state on Monday to strictly follow the government's standard operating procedures (SOPs).

He also urged people to follow COVID best practises, such as wearing masks and keeping social distance.
