India and Japan will hold a two-week long joint military exercise, namely Dharma Guardian, in Mizoram from October 19 to November 2.
In an official release, the Indian Army and Japanese Ground Self Defence Forces (JGSDF) announced regarding their participation in the Dharma Guardian with an aim of sharing the experience gained during various Counter-Terrorism Operations in India and Japan.

Dharma Guardian will have 25 soldiers each from the two forces, who will participate in the upcoming joint military exercise in Mizoram. Its motive is to increase the interoperability between the Indian Army and Japanese Ground Self Defence Forces and develop coordination in dealing with various security challenges including counter-terrorism operations in jungle and urban scenario.

It may be mentioned here that exercise Dharma Guardian is an annual training conducted in India since 2018. This year, the exercise is set to be held in Mizoram. The exercise provides platoon-level joint training to combat security challenges.
