NEW DELHI: India has reported 48,786 new COVID-19 cases with 1,005 new deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours and a slight increase from yesterday’s numbers, according to the union health ministry.
With the addition of various diseases, the total number of infections has risen to 30,411,634.
The number of active cases in the country has decreased to 5,23,257.
With the new fatalities, the death toll due to coronavirus in India now stands at 3,99,45.

On the upside, daily recoveries outnumbered new infections for the 49th day in a row, with 61,588 people infected with the virus have beeen discharged from hospitals between Wednesday and Thursday.
The total number of discharges now stands at 2,94,88,918.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India has tested 41,01,00,044 samples for COVID-19 so far.
Anti-COVID vaccinations have been given to 33,57,16,019 people in the country so far.
Kerala had the highest number of new infections with 13,550, followed by Maharashtra (8,085), Tamil Nadu (4,506), Andhra Pradesh (3,520), Karnataka (3,382), Delhi (101), and West Bengal (1,478).
Maharashtra (6,061,404), Kerala (2,924,165), Karnataka (2,843,810), Tamil Nadu (2,479,696), and Andhra Pradesh (1,889,513) are the five most affected states.
