NEW DELHI: The number of people infected with Covid-19 in India has risen to 1,21,49,335, with 53,480 more people testing positive for the virus in the past 24 hours.
While, 354 more deaths taking the death toll to 1,62,468, according to the latest report.
Meanwhile, active cases have risen to 5,52,566 cases, accounting for 4.55 percent of total infections, with a recovery rate of 94.11 percent.

The coronavirus situation is "turning from bad to worse," according to the Centre, and is a major source of concern, especially in some states, as the number of cases continues to rise.

It said Maharashtra has eight of the country's top ten Covid-19 high-burden districts, and that Delhi, taken as a whole, is also on the list.
